Why I'm Running
I was raised in Southeast Queens, not just as a place on a map, but as a living classroom. I grew up in the same parks, storefront churches, barber shops, and block corners that shaped generations before me.
Born into a working-class family of strong women and builders, I learned early that community isn’t an idea. It’s about showing up for one another.
I watched my grandmother run a school, opening its doors every morning with purpose and discipline. I watched my mother balance work, entrepreneurship, and single parenthood while raising three children with standards and, most importantly, love.
Today, too many families are paying more and getting less. Too many communities still lack the infrastructure they need to thrive. People aren’t living. They are just surviving.
That legacy of service, vision, and responsibility is why I’m running today. It’s time for a renaissance in Southeast Queens.
